Some explorers came to America from England to search for gold. They landed in Jamestown and met some Indian tribes. The Native Americans didn't like the colonists at first, but once they decided to trade items for food, they became friends. After a while, the Indians felt like the colonists were taking over their land and they didn't like that so they fought each other. The colonists had muskets and guns while the Natives had bows and arrows. Many people died in total, but the colonists eventually won which was the start of the new world in America.
The Colonists and Native Americans in Jamestown

Good post! I bet this battle was not good. I wonder how the people from Jamestown won the battle eventhough they had "better" weapons. In a movie we watched this past week, I remember some person saying that a Native American can shoot multiple arrows while one of the settlers is still reloading his gun. So wouldn't you think the Indians could kill more settlers faster? Also the Natives had home soil advantage. They knew the land well and where certain hiding spots were. It surprises me a little bit how the settlers pulled out a victory. Thanks for the information Lindsey :)
ReplyDeleteThis post is a good summary of what we learmed about the relationship between the Europeans and the Native Americans.
