This picture, by Tom Feelings, shows a man who is standing with his foot forward. This says that we should put our best foot forward and stand up to what we believe in. Sadie and Bessie were strong believers in this theory, showing that many times in the book. If someone made a rude comment or did something unjust, they would stand up to them and tell them what they thought.

I liked how you read more into the meaning of this painting. "Put your best foot forward." I think we all can learn from this in life. Sadie and Bessie never used violence to attack people and show them what they thought. They did it through teachings others in the classroom or protests. They did not let their anger get the best of them. Bessie did sometimes but she learned from Sadie how to utilize anger.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Amy! I totally agree. Sadie and Bessie always put their best foot forward and never let anyone tell them differently. They expressed what they thought, but not in a violent way. They both just wanted to best for everyone.
