Poe vs. Irving

     Since we have to choose one of these Romantic era poets, I would have to say that I enjoy Poe's writings more than Irving's. Irving uses humor whereas Poe uses horror to represent things and events. I think the writing style of Poe is more interesting. He seems to be a lot more descriptive so I can really visualize what's happening in the story. I also like him more because all of his poems are scary and involve horrific events which I think is really fun to read about. It's really cool how he comes up with all of these different events and how he uses his imagination to create these fascinating stories. If I had to choose to read a poem by either Washington Irving or Edgar Allan Poe, I would definitely choose Poe.
